London Defence R&D is a British defence technology company. We build artificial intelligence and drones for defence and security, in Milton Keynes.

Our story

We started London Defence R&D for one simple reason: AI is moving much faster than the defence sector can put it to use. We wanted a company that could keep up with the technology and still meet the high standards the sector asks for.

Today we work on the whole unmanned system: the autonomy software, the drones and the ground systems that run them. One team builds all of it, here in the United Kingdom.

We stay small on purpose, with senior people. For us, growing means better skills, not bigger meetings. Every engineer works hands-on, and every project can talk straight to the people who build the system.

How we work

Careful engineering: We can show the reason behind every design choice, and we review and record it. We work to known engineering standards and write down what we build, so it can be trusted, checked and kept up.
Confidentiality: We keep client and project details on a strict need-to-know basis, with the care the defence sector expects, from the very first talk onwards.
Accountability: We only promise dates we can meet, and we stand behind our work. When something needs fixing, we fix it. The same team that built the system answers for it.
Long-term support: Delivery is the start of the relationship, not the end. We support our systems in the field and keep making them better for as long as they fly.
